My friends who have adopted have done so for many different reasons. All of their stories truly amaze me. Honestly, they beat the pants off most birth stories, thou those are beautiful too. Having my daughters didn’t involve fundraising, travel expenses overseas, or navigating the red tape to bring them home. It did, however, involve the moment that you held your child for the first time, how they changed your world for the better and how we are all still trying to figure out life today!
Our family has the privilege of doing a homeschooling co-op with two other families. Both of whom have adopted all of their children. In fact, the birth-family kids are outnumbered 4 to 3! It’s so awesome! (We held an Olympics this semester and represented all kinds of nations. How cool is that?) This opportunity has given us more insight into the beauty and hardship of adoption.
In the U.S. 397,122 children are living without permanent families in the foster care system. 101,666 of these children are eligible for adoption, but nearly 32% of these children will wait over three years in foster care before being adopted.
So, our project today was writing letters to these four kids and letting them know how beautiful we think their stories are. How amazing it is that God brought them to their families from so far away. That, in the bringing, they joined our family too. Amazing love!
We lift our hats and open our hearts to all of the families that have chosen adoption.
We really believe that your families are beautiful.
Your children are beautiful.
Your stories are beautiful.
Love God & Whoever He Puts In Front Of You
